Microtube and dry-block thermo shakers

A dry-block thermo shaker heats, cools and mixes the sample in one instrument, with no water bath and no separate heating block. It is the workhorse of PCR preparation, lysis, enzymatic digestion, denaturation and pellet resuspension. This subcategory holds the ALEMADR and ALEM3000 series: ALEMADR-TSHL and ALEMADR-TPS with heated lid, ALEMADR-MS and ALEMADR-MSC, and ALEM3000 with the cooled ALEM3000C.

What decides the choice
  • Block format — 0.2 ml PCR strips, 0.5 / 1.5 / 2.0 ml microtubes, 15 ml and 50 ml tubes — blocks are interchangeable, so one instrument serves several formats.
  • Temperature range — typically RT+5 °C to 100 °C; cooling models (ALEM3000C, ALEMADR-MSC) go below ambient for enzyme work and 4 °C holding.
  • Speed and orbit — up to 1500 rpm with a small orbit, enough to mix without splashing the cap.
  • Heated lid — ALEMADR-TSHL and ALEMADR-TPS have a heated lid that prevents condensation on the tube cap during long incubation.
  • Positions — from 12 to 54 positions depending on block and tube diameter.
Heating only, or heating and cooling

If every protocol you run sits above room temperature, a heating-only model is enough. The moment enzymes, unstable samples or 4 °C holding enter the workflow, choose a model with Peltier cooling — retrofitting is not possible. A heated lid is the second thing worth paying for: without it, condensation forms on the cap and the concentration in the tube shifts during a long incubation.
