• Block digestor — digests up to 20 samples at once in concentrated sulfuric acid with a catalyst; programmable linear or curve heating up to 450 °C converts organic nitrogen to ammonium sulfate.
• Scrubber — connected to the fume collection hood of the digestor; condenses, neutralizes and filters the acid fumes so digestion can run safely outside a large fume cupboard.
• Distillation unit — releases ammonia by steam distillation after automatic alkali dosing and collects it in boric acid; the distillate is titrated manually or with a separate titrator.

The analyzer is chosen by daily sample number and required documentation. For occasional samples the KJELFAST-K300 distillation unit with manual titration is sufficient; routine food and feed laboratories choose the KJELFASTER-K500 or K700 with integrated titration and printout.

Accredited and high-throughput laboratories choose the KJELFASTER-K900 with audit trail, network connection and the optional 24-position autosampler. Every system is completed with a KJELDIG digestor and the EXSC5 scrubber.
