The ALEMADR-MS is a dry block thermo shaker incubator for microtubes, Eppendorf tubes, PCR plates, ELISA plates and centrifuge tubes up to 50 ml. It shakes from 200 to 1800 rpm on a 3 mm orbit and holds temperature from RT+5 °C to 100 °C under PID control, to ≤ ±0.3 °C. Eleven interchangeable blocks are what set it apart: the same instrument takes a 96-well PCR plate and a 50 ml conical tube. Product code PRO4306.

Eleven blocks, 0.2 ml to 50 ml, on one bench position

Most thermo shakers stop at 2 ml. The ALEMADR-MS does not: it is a dry block thermo shaker incubator with eleven interchangeable blocks that run from a 96-well PCR plate through 0.5, 1.5, 2.0, 5, 10 and 15 ml tubes to 50 ml conical and round-bottom tubes, plus a flat seat for a 96-well ELISA plate. Temperature is set from 0 °C and controlled from RT+5 °C to 100 °C; shaking runs from 200 to 1800 rpm on a 3 mm orbit.

Why the block range decides which thermo shaker you need

The instrument is only as useful as the block in it. A thermo shaker limited to 2 ml tubes covers the front end of sample preparation and stops there; the moment a protocol needs 15 ml or 50 ml, the work moves to a water bath or a second instrument. A dry block thermo shaker incubator with eleven blocks removes that break: the block lifts out, the next one drops in, and the same controller holds the same temperature for both.

That is also why the speed column on page 4 of the specification is not decoration. A 50 ml tube standing 115 mm above the platform cannot be shaken at the speed a 1.5 ml tube tolerates, so the large-tube blocks are rated at 1000 rpm and 800 rpm while the instrument itself runs to 1800 rpm. Operating functions

Temperature

The block is set from 0 °C and controlled from RT+5 °C up to 100 °C, with 0.1 °C on the display and PID regulation holding ≤ ±0.3 °C across the block. Heating from 25 °C to 100 °C takes twelve minutes or less. Because the control range starts five degrees above the room, the lowest working temperature depends on where the instrument stands — worth knowing for protocols that hold at 20 or 25 °C in a warm laboratory.

Shaking and blocks

Speed is adjustable from 200 to 1800 rpm on a 3 mm orbit. The orbit is wider than on a small-tube-only thermo shaker, which is what makes the larger blocks usable: liquid in a 15 ml tube needs travel, not just frequency. The block is changed by hand — it lifts out of the seat and the next one drops in, with no tools and no recalibration. Blocks for 5 ml and larger tubes carry their own speed limits, listed in the block table of the technical specification.

Timing and control

The timer runs from one minute to 99 minutes 59 seconds, or continuously for open-ended incubation. Speed, time and temperature are all shown on the LCD at the same time, with set and actual values side by side. Fault detection with a buzzer alarm, a temperature calibration function and built-in over-temperature protection are part of the instrument rather than options.

Build, motor and safe operation

Inside the ALEMADR-MS dry block thermo shaker incubator the drive is a brushless DC motor: no brushes to wear, no service interval, no carbon dust near open samples, and quiet enough that the instrument stays on a working bench. The wells are machined to fit the tube wall, so heat reaches the sample through contact rather than through air.

Applications and operational value

In molecular biology the ALEMADR-MS dry block thermo shaker incubator sits between sample preparation and the cycler: restriction digests, ligations, reverse transcription and bead clean-ups all need a fixed temperature with movement. The 0.5, 1.5 and 2.0 ml blocks and the mixed block cover that work, and the PCR plate block takes the reaction straight into a 96-well format.

The larger blocks are where this instrument separates from the rest of the category. Cell pellets resuspended in 15 ml tubes, protein work in 50 ml conicals, bacterial cultures warmed before plating — all of it normally means a water bath, and a water bath means condensation, contamination risk and no shaking. A dry block thermo shaker incubator with 5, 10, 15 and 50 ml blocks does the same job dry, with movement, at a set temperature.

For ELISA and PCR plate work the flat plate seats keep the plate flush against heated metal, which is what makes the incubation even across the wells. The practical limit is not the instrument but how many positions fit the chosen block, which is why the block list matters as much as the specification table.

Selection guide

  • Tube or plate format first. The block decides what the instrument takes: 96 × 0.2 ml PCR plate, 96-well ELISA plate, 54 × 0.5 ml, 35 × 1.5 ml, 35 × 2.0 ml, a mixed 20 × 1.5 + 15 × 0.5 ml block, 24 × 5 ml, 15 × 10 ml, 12 × 15 ml or 6 × 50 ml. Count the positions per run before choosing.
  • Check the block speed, not just the instrument speed. 5 and 10 ml blocks run to 1000 rpm, 15 and 50 ml blocks to 800 rpm, while the instrument itself goes to 1800 rpm.
  • Lowest working temperature. Control starts at RT+5 °C. If the protocol holds below room temperature, this model is not the one — the cooled version of the same instrument is.
  • More than one format? That is the argument for a dry block thermo shaker incubator with eleven blocks rather than two single-format instruments.
  • Voltage. AC 220 V or AC 110 V is fixed at order — confirm which one the laboratory uses.
