SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator — water bath, 12 positions, tubes Ø 10 mm to Ø 29 mm

The SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator evaporates solvent from 12 tubes in a stainless steel water bath: the water warms the samples gently and evenly while nitrogen from stainless steel needles sweeps the vapour off the liquid surface. The bath is controlled from RT+5 °C to 99 °C to ≤ ±1 °C, a spring-loaded holder takes tubes from Ø 10 mm to Ø 29 mm with 1 mL to 50 mL of liquid, and every needle has its own valve and height. Product code PRO4674.

Gentle heat for larger and mixed tubes

A dry block fits one tube diameter; real batches often do not. On the SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator the tubes stand in water, held by spring clips, so centrifuge tubes and test tubes of different sizes run side by side — and volumes up to 50 mL are warmed evenly over their whole height.

Key characteristics

  • RT+5 °C to 99 °C, display resolution 0.1 °C.
  • Accuracy ≤ ±1 °C; uniformity ≤ ±1 °C at 60 °C.
  • Heating from 40 °C to 99 °C in ≤ 30 min.
  • 12 numbered positions in a spring-loaded holder.
  • Tubes Ø 10 mm to Ø 29 mm, 1 mL to 50 mL of liquid.
  • A valve on every needle, each needle set to its own height.
  • Flow meter on the controller; nitrogen up to 15 L/min.
  • Level sensor with alarm before the bath runs dry.

Suitable for

  • Larger volumes — up to 50 mL per tube.
  • Mixed tube sizes in one run.
  • Heat-sensitive samples that need gentle, even heat below 100 °C.
  • Residue and environmental analysis — extracts before GC and LC.
  • Evaporation to near dryness and solvent exchange.

Why nitrogen blow-down in a water bath

The SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator evaporates below the boiling point and under inert gas, so heat-sensitive and oxidisable analytes are spared. Water surrounds every tube whatever its shape, and it cannot overheat a sample: the bath never exceeds 99 °C.

The valve on each needle saves nitrogen on empty positions and keeps finished samples from being blown dry, and each needle is lowered on its own as the level in its tube falls.

Model, product code and tubes

The SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator is one model with a holder for all tube sizes in its range; no blocks or inserts are needed. Quote and order with the COLO product code.

How a run works

Bath and temperature

Fill the bath with water and set the temperature. The SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator heats the water.

Load and blow

Clip the tubes into the holder and lower it into the bath. Set each needle just above the liquid, open the nitrogen, adjust the flow so that the surface dimples without splashing, and start the timer.

End of run

Lower each needle as its level drops and close its valve when the sample is done. At the end close the gas, raise the ring and take the tubes out.

Bath, controller and safe operation

The bath of the SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator is stainless steel; the parts in contact with vapour are corrosion-resistant and easy to clean. The controller with LCD and flow meter stands beside the bath.

Controller of the SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator with LCD and flow meter

Use dry, oil-free nitrogen through a pressure regulator, at most 200 kPa. Work in a fume hood — solvent vapour leaves the tubes with the gas. Fill the bath before heating; the level sensor gives an alarm if the water runs low.

Applications and operational value

The SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator is used in environmental, food safety, pharmaceutical, forensic and clinical laboratories wherever larger extracts have to be concentrated before chromatography or mass spectrometry.

It is a nitrogen blow-down concentrator, not a vacuum centrifugal concentrator: it suits organic solvents in open tubes and needs a nitrogen supply and a fume hood, but no vacuum pump.

Selection guide

  • Tubes. Outer diameter Ø 10 mm to Ø 29 mm, with 1 mL to 50 mL of liquid.
  • Temperature. The bath temperature must lie within RT+5 °C to 99 °C.
  • Nitrogen. Cylinder or generator with regulator, at most 200 kPa and up to 15 L/min.
  • Above 99 °C or more tubes? The SACO100, SACO200 and SACO400 use a dry block up to 160 °C.
  • Plates? The SACO300 dries 96-well plates.
  • Place of use. The SACO1000 nitrogen sample concentrator needs 390 × 300 mm in a fume hood and is 850 mm high.
