SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator — dry block, RT+5 °C to 160 °C, 1 or 2 blocks, up to 48 tubes
The SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator evaporates solvent from many tubes at once: an aluminium dry block warms the samples while nitrogen from stainless steel needles sweeps the vapour off the liquid surface, without oxygen and without a water bath. The block is controlled from RT+5 °C to 160 °C to ≤ ±0.5 °C at 40 °C, and the needle head travels 200 mm. SACO100-1 takes one block (PRO4583), SACO100-2 two blocks (PRO4584).
Many extracts concentrated at the same time
After extraction or SPE the analyte sits in several millilitres of solvent, and the instrument needs it in a fraction of that. A rotary evaporator takes one flask at a time. The SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator takes a whole rack: every tube is warmed in the block and blown with its own needle, so twenty-four or forty-eight samples reach the final volume together.

Why nitrogen blow-down in a dry block
The SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator evaporates below the boiling point and under inert gas, so heat-sensitive and oxidisable analytes are spared. The aluminium block replaces the water bath: nothing to fill, no water vapour over the samples, and temperatures above 100 °C when the solvent needs them.
Needles are fitted only at the positions in use, so nitrogen is not wasted on empty holes, and the head follows the liquid level down as the volume falls.
Models, product codes and blocks
The SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator is made in two models that differ in the number of blocks. Both are supplied without blocks; the blocks are ordered separately. Quote and order with the COLO product code.

How a run works
Block and temperature
Fit the block for your tubes and set the temperature. The SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator heats the block.
Load and blow
Place the tubes, fit needles at the positions in use and lower the head until the tips are just above the liquid. Open the nitrogen, set the flow so that the surface dimples without splashing, and start the timer.
End of run
Lower the head as the level drops. At the end close the gas, raise the head and take the tubes out.
Needle head, accessories and safe operation
The needle head of the SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator has marked positions for every block format; stainless steel needles are pushed in where there are tubes and the rest stay closed. The head runs on a stand with rack-and-pinion height adjustment and a locking knob.

Use dry, oil-free nitrogen through a pressure regulator: 0.02 MPa for up to 16 needles, 0.05 MPa above. Work in a fume hood — solvent vapour leaves the tubes with the gas. The block is hot during the run; fault detection with alarm and over-temperature protection are built in.
Standard delivery
- SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator, model SACO100-1 or SACO100-2.
- Stand with height adjustment and needle head.
- Stainless steel needles and gas hose with quick coupling.
- Mains cable and operating manual.
- Declaration of conformity and warranty documentation.
Blocks are ordered separately under their own product codes. Nitrogen supply, pressure regulator, tubes and samples are not part of the instrument. The delivered configuration for a specific order is the one confirmed in the COLO.Science quotation.

Applications and operational value
The SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator is used in food safety, environmental, pharmaceutical, forensic and clinical laboratories wherever extracts have to be concentrated before chromatography or mass spectrometry.
It is a nitrogen blow-down concentrator, not a vacuum centrifugal concentrator: it suits organic solvents in open tubes and needs a nitrogen supply and a fume hood, but no vacuum pump.
Selection guide
- Tubes. The outer diameter decides the block; the number per run decides the model.
- One block or two. SACO100-1 for up to 24 tubes, SACO100-2 for up to 48 or for two tube formats at once.
- Temperature. The evaporation temperature must lie within RT+5 °C to 160 °C.
- Nitrogen. Cylinder or generator with regulator, 0.02 to 0.05 MPa and up to 15 L/min.
- Each tube adjusted separately? SACO200 has a valve on every needle.
- Place of use. The SACO100 nitrogen sample concentrator needs 260 × 220 mm in a fume hood and is 450 mm high.
