EXSC5 Neutralization System (Scrubber)
EXSC5 is a three-stage neutralization system (scrubber) for the acid fumes from Kjeldahl digestion. The fumes collected by the hood of the KJELDIG-D250 or KJELDIG-D450 pass through water condensation, alkali neutralization and activated-carbon filtration. Adjustable suction keeps the hood under negative pressure so acid gas does not escape, the anti-corrosion vacuum pump runs with low noise, and PTFE tubing and translucent absorption vessels make inspection and maintenance simple.
Overview
Applications
- Kjeldahl digestion: acid fumes from 20-position KJELDIG block digestors.
- Labs without large fume cupboards: digestion station on a normal bench with local fume neutralization.
- Environmental protection: less acid gas released to the exhaust.
- Acid evaporation: fume handling when the digestor is used for acid removal.
Why EXSC5
- Three stages: water condensation, alkali neutralization and activated-carbon filtration.
- Controlled suction: adjustable negative pressure prevents acid gas from escaping.
- Long service life: anti-corrosion, low-noise vacuum pump and PTFE tubing.
- Easy maintenance: modular design; translucent absorption vessels for visual inspection and quick change.

Selection guidance
EXSC5 is selected as the fume neutralization stage of every KJELDIG digestion station, especially where digestion runs outside a large fume cupboard.
Configuration checklist
- Digestor: KJELDIG-D250 or D450 with fume collection hood.
- Location: bench space next to the digestor.
- Consumables: alkali solution and activated carbon — plan replacement.
- Ventilation: general laboratory ventilation still required.
