CS7700 Handheld Spectrophotometer — d/8, SCI and SCE, LED and UV, two apertures
The CS7700 handheld spectrophotometer (COLO product code PRO7953) measures colour and colour difference of plastics, paints, inks, textiles, leather and paper in the laboratory, at the production line and at goods receipt. d/8 geometry with simultaneous SCI and SCE, a full-spectrum LED with UV light source and two apertures (Ø8 and Ø4 mm) are combined in a pistol-grip instrument with camera positioning.
Which handheld model?
Overview
The CS7700 has the optics, sphere, sensor and camera of the CS7708 without the 1 × 3 mm slot aperture. The UV source makes it suitable for fluorescent and optically brightened samples, and the Ø4 mm aperture for small parts and curved surfaces.

Key characteristics
- d/8 geometry, SCI and SCE measured simultaneously
- Full-spectrum LED and UV light source, 400–700 nm
- Two apertures: Ø8 mm (MAV) and Ø4 mm (SAV)
- Repeatability ΔE*ab ≤ 0.03, inter-instrument agreement ΔE*ab ≤ 0.15
- Built-in camera for positioning, 3.5″ touch screen
- USB and Bluetooth, 1 000 standards and 30 000 samples
Suitable for
- Plastic parts, plaques, masterbatch and granules (with the powder test box)
- Paints, coatings, inks and printed material
- Textiles, leather and paper
- Colour quality control with CIE Lab (D65/10°) and ΔE pass/fail at the line or at goods receipt
Why this instrument
A handheld instrument earns its place when it is taken to the sample instead of the sample being cut and carried to the laboratory. The CS7700 gives laboratory-level data for that work — full spectrum, SCI and SCE in one measurement, UV for brightened materials and close agreement between instruments — so readings at the line can be compared with the colour laboratory.

Software and data

The PC software (free download) stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum and the colour difference, follows trends and exports results for reports. Standards can also be created and measured directly on the instrument.
Data are transferred by USB or Bluetooth.

Selection guide
- Very small areas, fine lines, small printed elements: CS7708 — adds a 1 × 3 mm slot aperture to Ø8 and Ø4 mm.
- Fluorescent or optically brightened samples, large and small parts: CS7700 — UV light source, Ø8 and Ø4 mm, Bluetooth.
- Non-fluorescent samples of one size range: CS7600 — same optics and camera, one aperture selected with the order, USB.
- Lighter instrument, routine Lab and ΔE checks: the CS70 portable series.
- Transmittance, liquids or haze: a benchtop spectrophotometer is needed — see the CS60 series.
