CS7036 Portable Spectrophotometer — d/8, SCI and SCE, LED and UV, two apertures
The CS7036 portable spectrophotometer (COLO product code PRO7957) measures colour and colour difference of plastics, paints, inks, textiles, leather and paper wherever the sample is — in the laboratory, at the production line or at goods receipt. d/8 geometry with simultaneous SCI and SCE, an LED light source with UV lamp and two apertures (Ø8 and Ø4 mm) cover large and small samples in one 460 g instrument.
Which portable model?
Overview
The CS7036 is the top model of the portable CS70 series. The UV lamp makes it suitable for fluorescent and optically brightened samples, the Ø4 mm aperture for small parts, prints and curved surfaces, and the built-in camera shows the measured spot on the screen before the reading is taken.

Key characteristics
- d/8 geometry, SCI and SCE measured simultaneously
- Combined LED light source and UV lamp, 400–700 nm
- Two apertures: Ø8 mm (MAV) and Ø4 mm (SAV)
- Repeatability ΔE*ab ≤ 0.05, inter-instrument agreement ΔE*ab ≤ 0.3
- Built-in camera for positioning, 3.5″ touch screen
- USB and Bluetooth, 1 000 standards and 30 000 samples
Suitable for
- Plastic parts, plaques, masterbatch and granules (with the powder test box)
- Paints, coatings, inks and printed material
- Textiles, leather and paper
- Colour quality control with CIE Lab (D65/10°) and ΔE pass/fail at the line or at goods receipt
Why this instrument
A portable instrument earns its place when it is taken to the sample instead of the sample being cut and carried to the laboratory. The CS7036 gives laboratory-type data for that work: full spectrum, SCI and SCE in one measurement, 18 illuminants and the usual whiteness, yellowness and colour strength indices — so the same instrument serves the colour laboratory and the inspection at the line.

Software and data

The PC software (free download) stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum and the colour difference, follows trends and exports results for reports. Standards can also be created and measured directly on the instrument.
Data are transferred by USB or Bluetooth.
Standard delivery

Selection guide
- Fluorescent or optically brightened samples, small parts: CS7036 — UV lamp and a second Ø4 mm aperture, Bluetooth.
- Full spectrum and SCI/SCE without UV: CS7030 — same optics and camera, Ø8 mm aperture, USB.
- Lab and ΔE with PC software, budget first: CS7020.
- Pass/fail on the spot, no PC: CS7010.
- Transmittance, liquids or haze: a benchtop spectrophotometer is needed — see the CS60 series.
