CS3010 Portable Spectrophotometer — d/8, SCI and SCE, Ø8 mm aperture

The CS3010 portable spectrophotometer (COLO product code PRO7962) measures colour and colour difference of plastics, paints, inks, textiles and paper with d/8 geometry and SCI and SCE measured together. It has a full-spectrum LED light source, one Ø8 mm aperture and the same sphere, sensor, camera and touch screen as the larger models of the series.

Overview

The CS3010 is the entry model of the CS30 series, for routine colour control of non-fluorescent samples: compare a sample with a stored standard, read ΔE and decide pass or fail. Results are transferred to the PC software by USB.

CS3010 portable spectrophotometer with touch screen

Key characteristics

  • d/8 geometry, SCI and SCE measured together
  • Full-spectrum LED light source (without UV), 400–700 nm
  • One aperture: Ø8 mm
  • Repeatability ΔE*ab ≤ 0.06, inter-instrument agreement ΔE*ab ≤ 0.4
  • Built-in camera for positioning, 3.5″ touch screen
  • USB, 800 standards and 20 000 samples

Suitable for

  • Plastic parts, plaques, masterbatch and granules (with the powder test box)
  • Paints, coatings, inks and printed material
  • Textiles, leather and paper
  • Colour quality control with CIE Lab (D65/10°) and ΔE pass/fail in the laboratory, at the line or at goods receipt

Why this instrument

Most colour checks in production compare a sample with a standard and decide pass or fail. The CS3010 provides full-spectrum data and SCI/SCE measurement for that work, so glossy and textured samples can be judged as the eye sees them (SCE) or independent of gloss (SCI) — without paying for UV, extra apertures and Bluetooth where they are not needed.

Software and data

Colour quality PC software

The PC software (free download) stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum and the colour difference, follows trends and exports results for reports. Standards can also be created and measured directly on the instrument.

Data are transferred by USB.

Standard delivery

  • Instrument with white and black calibration cavity
  • Ø8 mm aperture
  • PC software (download), USB cable, power adapter, built-in Li-ion battery, user guide
  • Dust cover

Optional: micro printer, powder test box. The delivered configuration for a specific order is the one confirmed in the COLO.Science quotation.

Selection guide

  • Fluorescent or optically brightened samples, large and small parts: CS3060 — UV light source, Ø8 and Ø4 mm, Bluetooth.
  • One sample size range, or very small areas: CS3020 — one aperture of your choice, Ø8, Ø4 or 1 × 3 mm, Bluetooth.
  • Routine Lab and ΔE checks of non-fluorescent samples: CS3010 — Ø8 mm, USB.
  • Pistol-grip instrument for parts on the line: the CS77 handheld series.
  • Transmittance, liquids or haze: a benchtop spectrophotometer is needed — see the CS60 series.
