CS3020 Portable Spectrophotometer — d/8, SCI and SCE, aperture of your choice

The CS3020 portable spectrophotometer (COLO product code PRO7961) measures colour and colour difference of plastics, paints, inks, textiles, leather and paper with d/8 geometry and SCI and SCE measured together. It has a full-spectrum LED light source and one aperture selected with the order — Ø8 mm, Ø4 mm or a 1 × 3 mm slot — with the same sphere, sensor, camera and touch screen as the CS3060.

Overview

The CS3020 is built around the samples you measure: the Ø8 mm aperture for most flat samples, Ø4 mm for small parts, or the 1 × 3 mm slot for narrow lines and very small areas. Bluetooth and USB connect it to the PC software.

CS3020 portable spectrophotometer with touch screen

Key characteristics

  • d/8 geometry, SCI and SCE measured together
  • Full-spectrum LED light source (without UV), 400–700 nm
  • One aperture selected with the order: Ø8 mm, Ø4 mm or 1 × 3 mm
  • Repeatability ΔE*ab ≤ 0.05, inter-instrument agreement ΔE*ab ≤ 0.2
  • Built-in camera for positioning, 3.5″ touch screen
  • USB and Bluetooth, 1 000 standards and 20 000 samples

Suitable for

  • Plastic parts, plaques, masterbatch and granules (with the powder test box)
  • Paints, coatings, inks and printed material
  • Textiles, leather and paper
  • Colour quality control with CIE Lab (D65/10°) and ΔE pass/fail in the laboratory, at the line or at goods receipt

Why this instrument

When all samples are of one size range, a second aperture is rarely used. The CS3020 lets you choose the one aperture that fits — including a 1 × 3 mm slot for fine lines — and keeps full-spectrum data, SCI and SCE and 18 illuminants for non-fluorescent samples.

Software and data

Colour quality PC software

The PC software (free download) stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum and the colour difference, follows trends and exports results for reports. Standards can also be created and measured directly on the instrument.

Data are transferred by USB or Bluetooth.

Standard delivery

  • Instrument with white and black calibration cavity
  • One aperture, Ø8 mm, Ø4 mm or 1 × 3 mm (selected with the order)
  • PC software (download), USB cable, power adapter, built-in Li-ion battery, user guide
  • Dust cover

Optional: micro printer, powder test box. The delivered configuration for a specific order is the one confirmed in the COLO.Science quotation.

Selection guide

  • Fluorescent or optically brightened samples, large and small parts: CS3060 — UV light source, Ø8 and Ø4 mm, Bluetooth.
  • One sample size range, or very small areas: CS3020 — one aperture of your choice, Ø8, Ø4 or 1 × 3 mm, Bluetooth.
  • Routine Lab and ΔE checks of non-fluorescent samples: CS3010 — Ø8 mm, USB.
  • Pistol-grip instrument for parts on the line: the CS77 handheld series.
  • Transmittance, liquids or haze: a benchtop spectrophotometer is needed — see the CS60 series.
