ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator — heating lid, auto-recognised blocks, RT+5 °C to 100 °C
The ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator has an adjustable heating lid and works, for tubes from 0.2 ml to 2.0 ml and 96-well plates. With its heating blocks it is set from 0 °C and controlled from RT+5 °C to 100 °C, to ≤ ±0.3 °C at 37 °C. Each block carries its own temperature sensor and heating unit and is recognised when it is fitted. Programs run in up to 5 temperature points and 99 cycles. Product code PRO4348.
Five heating blocks, 0.2 ml to 2.0 ml and 96-well plates, under a heated lid
A dry bath holds tubes at a set temperature through metal contact, without water. The ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator adds two things to that: a lid whose temperature is controlled separately, and blocks that carry their own sensor and heater. It comes with five interchangeable heating blocks — 35 × 2.0 ml, 35 × 1.5 ml, 54 × 0.5 ml, 96 × 0.2 ml PCR tubes and a 96-well ELISA plate. The same main unit with heating and cooling blocks is the ALEMADR-DBC.

Why a dry bath incubator with a sensor in every block
In most dry baths the temperature is measured in the body of the instrument and the block is a piece of metal placed on top. In the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator the temperature control system and the block are combined: each block has a built-in temperature sensor and its own heating unit. Control is therefore more accurate and heating is faster — 25 °C to 100 °C in twelve minutes or less.
The blocks are interchangeable and auto-recognised, so the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator knows which block has been fitted. The main unit is supplied without a block; the block is chosen with the order, by tube or plate format. A built-in temperature calibration function is part of the instrument.
Model, product code and blocks
The ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator is supplied as a main unit with heating lid. Blocks are chosen separately by tube or plate format and are ordered under their own product codes. Quote and order with the COLO product code.

Operating functions
Temperature
With the heating blocks, the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator is set from 0 °C and controlled from RT+5 °C up to 100 °C, with 0.1 °C on the display and ≤ ±0.3 °C accuracy and uniformity at 37 °C. Because the control range starts five degrees above the room, the lowest working temperature depends on where the instrument stands — worth knowing for protocols that hold at 25 °C in a warm laboratory.
Heating lid
The lid of the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator closes over the block with a knob. Its temperature is set separately, from OFF to +10 °C, with an accuracy of ≤ ±0.5 °C, and it heats from 25 °C to 100 °C in ten minutes or less. The lid can also be switched off.
Programs, timing and control
A run can hold one temperature or step through up to 5 temperature points, and a program can be repeated up to 99 times. The timer runs from one second to 99 hours 59 minutes, or continuously. Operation information is shown on the LCD screen. If the power fails, the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator restarts the run when the supply returns.
Build, power supply and safe operation
The ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator is a mains-powered benchtop instrument: 150 W, AC 110 V or AC 220 V at 50–60 Hz, protected by a 250 V 3 A fuse (Ø 5 × 20). A built-in over-temperature protection device is part of the instrument.
The ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator measures 300 × 200 × 210 mm and weighs 4.0 kg. Confirm the mains voltage version and the plug type before the order is placed.

Applications and operational value
In molecular biology the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator covers the temperature steps around the main instruments: enzyme incubations, heat inactivation, sample denaturation, holding reagents at working temperature. The 35-position blocks take standard 1.5 ml and 2.0 ml tubes; the 0.5 ml block takes 54.

The 96-position block is for 0.2 ml PCR tubes, and the plate block takes a 96-well ELISA plate. With the heated lid closed over them, the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator is a practical incubation position beside a cycler or a plate reader, without occupying either.
Against a water bath the argument is the usual one for dry heat — no water to change and no contamination path — with the added point that a protocol with several temperatures is entered once as a program and repeated in cycles.
Selection guide
- Tube or plate format first. The block decides what the ALEMADR-DB dry bath incubator takes: 35 × 2.0 ml, 35 × 1.5 ml, 54 × 0.5 ml, 96 × 0.2 ml PCR tubes or a 96-well plate. Count the positions per run before choosing.
- The main unit comes without a block. Order at least one block with it.
- Lowest working temperature. With the heating blocks, control starts at RT+5 °C. If the protocol holds below room temperature or needs storage at 4 °C, choose the ALEMADR-DBC (PRO6372) with heating and cooling blocks.
- A handful of tubes on a crowded bench? The mini models ALEMADR-MB and ALEMADR-MC take 15 tubes on 145 × 113 mm.
- Mains voltage. Confirm AC 110 V or AC 220 V and the plug type for the country of use.
