SC800 Portable Spectrophotometer — 45/0, Ø8 mm, touch screen

The SC800 portable spectrophotometer (COLO product code PRO7966) measures colour and colour difference with 45/0 geometry — 45° ring illumination and 0° viewing, the way the eye judges colour. A full 400–700 nm reflectance spectrum, two observers and a 3.5″ touch screen bring laboratory colour data to the production line, the warehouse and the customer’s site.

Overview

Measure the standard once, then every sample shows CIE Lab values, ΔE, pass/fail and the direction of the colour offset. The ring illumination makes the result independent of the orientation of textured or striped samples; with the optional universal test component the same instrument measures liquids, pastes and powders.

Why this instrument

45/0 measures colour as it is seen, including the effect of gloss — the right choice when the result must agree with visual assessment of paints, inks, prints, plastics and coated parts. The SC800 gives that measurement in a 600 g hand-held instrument that runs a full shift on its battery.

Software and data

The PC software (free download) stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum and the colour difference, follows trends and exports results for reports. Standards can also be created and measured directly on the instrument.
