CS4510 Portable Spectrophotometer — 45/0, aperture of your choice

The CS4510 portable spectrophotometer (COLO product code PRO7965) measures colour and colour difference with 45/0 geometry — 45° ring illumination and 0° viewing. It has a full-spectrum LED light source and one aperture selected with the order — Ø8, Ø4 or Ø2 mm — with the same optics, sensor and touch screen as the larger models of the series.

Overview

The CS4510 is the entry model of the CS45 series, for routine colour control of non-fluorescent samples: compare a sample with a stored standard, read ΔE and decide pass or fail. The Ø2 mm aperture option reaches very small printed or coated areas. Results are transferred to the PC software by USB.

Key characteristics

  • 45/0 geometry with 45° ring illumination
  • Full-spectrum LED light source (without UV), 400–700 nm
  • One aperture selected with the order: Ø8, Ø4 or Ø2 mm
  • Repeatability ΔE*ab ≤ 0.05, inter-instrument agreement ΔE*ab ≤ 0.2
  • 3.5″ touch screen, measuring time approx. 1.5 s
  • USB, 500 standards and 20 000 samples

Suitable for

  • Paints, coatings, inks and printed material
  • Plastic parts and plaques, textiles, leather and paper
  • Colour quality control with CIE Lab (D65/10°) and ΔE pass/fail in the laboratory, at the line or at goods receipt

Why this instrument

Most colour checks in production compare a sample with a standard and decide pass or fail. The CS4510 gives full-spectrum 45/0 data for that work, with the aperture that fits your samples — without paying for UV, a second aperture and Bluetooth where they are not needed.

Software and data

Colour quality PC software

The PC software (free download) stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum and the colour difference, follows trends and exports results for reports. Standards can also be created and measured directly on the instrument.

Data are transferred by USB.

Standard delivery

  • Instrument with white and black calibration standard
  • One aperture, Ø8, Ø4 or Ø2 mm (selected with the order)
  • PC software (download), USB cable, power adapter, built-in Li-ion battery, user guide
  • Dust cover

Optional: micro printer, powder test box, universal test component, locating plate. The delivered configuration for a specific order is the one confirmed in the COLO.Science quotation.

Knowledge base

New to colour measurement? Light sources, metamerism, CIE Lab, ΔE and measuring geometries (45/0 and d/8) are explained on COLO.Science, our knowledge base.

Selection guide

  • Traffic signs, road markings, reflective films or coarse surfaces: CS4580 — Ø20 mm, UV, Bluetooth.
  • Highest accuracy, fluorescent samples, large and small areas: CS4560 — UV, Ø8 and Ø4 mm, Bluetooth.
  • Routine Lab and ΔE checks of non-fluorescent samples: CS4510 — one aperture Ø8, Ø4 or Ø2 mm, USB.
  • Results independent of gloss (SCI) or glossy and textured samples: d/8 geometry — the CS30 portable series.
  • Transmittance, liquids or haze: a benchtop spectrophotometer is needed — see the CS60 series.
