ALEMADR-SOC dry bath incubator with cooling — Peltier, RT−30 °C to 100 °C

The ALEMADR-SOC dry bath incubator heats and cools one interchangeable aluminium block with a Peltier element. The temperature is set from −10 °C to 100 °C and controlled from RT−30 °C to 100 °C, to ≤ ±0.3 °C accuracy and uniformity, and the instrument can hold samples at 4 °C automatically. Why a dry bath incubator with cooling

A heating-only dry bath works from a few degrees above room temperature upward. Anything colder — ligation at 14 °C, storage at 4 °C, a sample that has to be chilled quickly after a heat step — needs an ice bucket or a second instrument. The ALEMADR-SOC dry bath incubator covers both directions on one block, from RT−30 °C to 100 °C.

It shares the dimensions, programs and the eleven blocks with the heating-only ALEMADR-SO, so blocks bought for one fit the other.

Operating functions

Temperature

The ALEMADR-SOC dry bath incubator is set from −10 °C to 100 °C and controlled from 30 degrees below room temperature up to 100 °C, with 0.1 °C on the display and ≤ ±0.3 °C accuracy and uniformity. It cools from 100 °C to 25 °C in about ten minutes and from room temperature to RT−30 °C in about 25 minutes; the AUTO 4 °C function keeps samples cold after a run.

Programs and timer

A program holds up to five temperature points, each with its own time, and repeats up to 99 times. The timer runs from one minute to 99 hours 59 minutes, or continuously, and a buzzer signals the end of the temperature control.

Automatic functions and calibration

Auto heating and auto running are built in, and after a power failure the instrument resumes the run when the supply returns. The user calibration function lets the temperature be set to an in-house standard.

Build, power supply and safe operation

The ALEMADR-SOC dry bath incubator is a mains-powered benchtop instrument: 150 W, AC 100–240 V at 50/60 Hz, protected by a 250 V 3 A fuse (Ø 5 × 20). Heating and cooling come from a Peltier element under the block. Control is microprocessor-based, with fault detection, a buzzer alarm and built-in over-temperature protection; the instrument carries the CE mark.

It measures 260 × 195 × 150 mm and weighs 4.5 kg. Confirm the plug type for the country of use before the order is placed.

Applications and operational value

The ALEMADR-SOC dry bath incubator is used where samples move between cold and warm: ligation at 14 °C, oocytes at 17 °C, enzymes and DNA libraries kept cold at the bench, enzyme reactions and deactivation, PCR sample preparation and chilling or heating samples in the field.

Microtube blocks take 0.2 ml to 2.0 ml tubes, including a mixed 1.5 ml and 0.5 ml block; tube blocks take 5, 10, 15 and 50 ml tubes, the 50 ml in round or conical bottom; plate blocks take a 0.2 ml PCR plate or a 96-well ELISA plate.

Against a water bath the argument is the usual one for dry heat — no water to change and no contamination path. Against an ice bucket, the temperature is set and held, not estimated.

Selection guide

• Heating only, or heating and cooling? Above room temperature the ALEMADR-SO is enough; at or below room temperature, or for 4 °C storage, choose the ALEMADR-SOC.
• Tube or plate format. One block per instrument — choose from the eleven formats and count the positions per run.
• More samples or several temperatures? Two independent zones: ALEMADR-MI; four blocks with four timers: ALEMADR-MO.
• Shaking or a heated lid? The same blocks fit the ALEMADR-MS and ALEMADR-MSC thermo shakers; for a heated lid choose the ALEMADR-DB.
• Mains voltage. AC 100–240 V; confirm the plug type for the country of use.
