CP2080 Portable Spectrocolorimeter — d/8, SCI/SCE, UV, apertures down to 1×3 mm

The CP2080 portable spectrocolorimeter (COLO product code PRO7945) is the top model of the CP20 series: d/8 geometry with SCI/SCE, LED and UV light source, apertures Ø8 and Ø4 mm (flat and tip) plus 1×3 mm, camera positioning, Bluetooth and the best repeatability of the series.

Overview

Measure the standard once, then every sample shows CIE Lab values, ΔE, pass/fail and the direction of the colour offset. SCI and SCE are measured together, so the influence of gloss is seen in one step. A reference channel monitors the light source and compensates its drift.

Key characteristics

  • d/8 geometry, SCI and SCE in one measurement, Ø40 mm sphere
  • Full-spectrum LED and UV light source
  • Apertures Ø8 and Ø4 mm (flat and tip) and 1×3 mm
  • Camera positioning, Bluetooth and mobile app
  • Repeatability ΔE*ab 0.02, inter-instrument agreement ΔE*ab 0.2
  • Non-contact automatic white calibration

Suitable for

  • Paper, textiles and white plastics with optical brighteners (UV)
  • Paints, coatings, inks and printed material
  • Plastic parts and plaques, textiles, leather and paper
  • Colour quality control with CIE Lab (D65/10°) and ΔE pass/fail in the laboratory, at the line or at goods receipt

Why this instrument

When the same instrument has to measure large panels, small parts and narrow details, the CP2080 brings the full aperture set, non-contact automatic white calibration and repeatability ΔE*ab 0.02 — at a price well below a laboratory benchtop instrument.

Software and data

Colour quality PC software

The PC software (free download) stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum and the colour difference, follows trends and exports results for reports. Standards can also be created and measured directly on the instrument.

Data are transferred by USB or Bluetooth; the mobile app (Android, iOS) shows results and standards on the phone.

Standard delivery

  • Instrument with measuring apertures
  • Calibration base with white and black standard
  • PC colour management software (download), data cable, power adapter, built-in Li-ion battery, user guide
  • Protective cover, wrist strap

* Part of the indices and illuminants is available in the PC software or the mobile app. Optional: powder test box, micro printer. The delivered configuration for a specific order is the one confirmed in the COLO.Science quotation.

Knowledge base

New to colour measurement? Light sources, metamerism, CIE Lab, ΔE and measuring geometries (45/0 and d/8) are explained on COLO.Science, our knowledge base.

Selection guide

  • Routine colour control with one Ø8 mm aperture: CP2010.
  • Optical brighteners (UV), small parts, Bluetooth and camera: CP2050.
  • Large panels to narrow details, best repeatability: CP2080.
  • Higher accuracy, 3.5″ screen and laboratory-grade data: the CS70 portable series.
  • 45/0 geometry (colour as seen, including gloss): the CS45 portable series.
  • Transmittance, liquids or haze: a benchtop spectrophotometer is needed — see the CS60 series.
