CC20XE Portable Colorimeter — 45/0, Ø20 mm Large Aperture

The CC20XE portable colorimeter (COLO product code PRO7976) combines 45/0 geometry with a large Ø20 mm aperture. It averages the colour of textured, striped and uneven surfaces in one reading, and its upright body lets only the aperture touch the sample — suited to wet and moist products.

Overview

Measure the standard once, then every sample shows the colour values, ΔE, pass/fail and the direction of the colour offset. A colorimeter measures colour as three values under one illuminant — the simple and economical tool for colour difference control.

CC20XE upright 45/0 colorimeter with Ø20 mm aperture

Key characteristics

  • 45/0 geometry with annular illumination
  • Large measuring aperture Ø20 mm, illumination and cross positioning
  • Upright body with a large flat end face — only the aperture touches the sample
  • CIE Lab, LCh, XYZ; ΔE*ab, ΔL*a*b*, ΔE*C*h*; D65, 10° observer
  • Repeatability ΔE*ab 0.08
  • 100 standards and 20 000 samples, USB and PC software

Suitable for

  • Meat, fruit, vegetables and other food, also wet and moist
  • Textiles, denim, non-woven fabrics and leather
  • Plastic granules and powders, coil coating, paper and building materials

Why this instrument

Meat, fruit, fabrics, denim, granules and powders are hard to measure with a small aperture: the result changes with every placement. The Ø20 mm aperture and 45/0 annular illumination give a stable average that matches what the eye sees, including the effect of surface texture.

Knowledge base

New to colour measurement? Colorimeters and spectrophotometers, CIE Lab, ΔE and measuring geometries (45/0 and d/8) are explained on COLO.Science, our knowledge base.

Selection guide

  • Teaching, training and orientation checks: CC10.
  • Routine colour difference control with PC software: CC200.
  • Textured, uneven or wet samples (food, textiles, granules): CC20XE.
  • Spectral data, SCI/SCE, UV and more illuminants: the CP20 spectrocolorimeters.
  • Laboratory-grade accuracy and colour matching: the CS70 portable spectrophotometers.
  • Transmittance, liquids or haze: a benchtop spectrophotometer is needed — see the CS60 series.
