BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator — seven independent timers, RT+5 °C to 100 °C, 35 or 28 positions
The BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator is a dry block incubator made for the incubation of biological indicators after a sterilization cycle. The block is held from RT+5 °C to 100 °C to ≤ ±0.3 °C and is divided into seven groups, each with its own key and its own countdown, so indicators from different loads can be started at different times. BIOIND100 takes 35 vials of Ø 9 mm or Ø 10 mm; BIOIND100S takes 28 vials of Ø 12 mm. Product codes PRO4498 and PRO7188.
One incubator for biological indicators from several sterilizer loads
A biological indicator shows whether a sterilization cycle did its work, but only after it has been incubated at the right temperature for the right time. In a busy sterilization department indicators arrive one after another through the day. The BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator keeps one temperature across the block and times seven groups separately, so each indicator gets its full incubation time whenever it was put in.

Key characteristics
- Seven independent timers — seven groups, each with its own key and countdown.
- RT+5 °C to 100 °C control range; setting range 0 °C to 100 °C.
- Accuracy and uniformity ≤ ±0.3 °C, display resolution 0.1 °C.
- 1 min to 99 h 59 min per group, or continuous operation.
- 35 or 28 positions — Ø 9 mm or Ø 10 mm on BIOIND100, Ø 12 mm cone bottom on BIOIND100S.
- Film heating with PID control; ≤ 12 min from 25 °C to 100 °C.
- Real-time display of set and running values.
- Temperature calibration and software and hardware over-temperature protection.
Suitable for
- Incubation of self-contained biological indicators after steam or gas sterilization.
- Sterilization departments, hospital and dental practices.
- Pharmaceutical and food laboratories that verify sterilization cycles.
- Work with indicators from several loads on the same day.
- Long incubations, up to 99 h 59 min, or continuous operation.
Why an incubator with seven independent timers
With a single timer, an indicator added later either shortens its own incubation or forces the whole block to start again. On the BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator each group counts down on its own: an indicator added at noon does not disturb the one started in the morning.
The block is dry — there is no water bath to fill, clean or contaminate — and a cover closes it during incubation. The set and running values are shown on the display at the same time.
Models, product codes and blocks
The BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator is made in two versions that differ in the block they take. The block is ordered with the instrument under its own product code. Quote and order with the COLO product code.

How a run works
Set the temperature
Enter the incubation temperature stated for the indicator. The BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator heats the block and holds it.
Load and start a group
Activate the indicator as its manufacturer describes and place it in a free group. Set the time and start the countdown of that group with its key. The groups are marked A1, B1, A2, B2, A3, B3 and A4 on the block and on the keys; the other groups keep running.
Read the result
When the countdown of a group ends, take the indicator out and read the result as its manufacturer describes.
Build, power supply and safe operation
The BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator is a compact mains-powered benchtop instrument: 260 × 195 × 150 mm, 2.5 kg, 150 W, AC 220 V or AC 110 V at 50/60 Hz, protected by a 250 V 3 A fuse (Ø 5 × 20). The mains inlet with the switch is at the rear.

The block reaches up to 100 °C; a cover closes it during incubation. Over-temperature protection works in software and in hardware, and a temperature calibration function is built in. Confirm the mains voltage version and the plug type before the order is placed.
Standard delivery
- BIOIND100 or BIOIND100S biological indicator incubator with cover.
- Mains cable.
- Operating manual.
- Declaration of conformity and warranty documentation.
The block is ordered separately under its own product code. Biological indicators are not part of the instrument. The delivered configuration for a specific order is the one confirmed in the COLO.Science quotation.

Applications and operational value
The BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator is used wherever sterilization cycles are checked with biological indicators: central sterilization departments, hospital and dental practices, and pharmaceutical and food laboratories.
Thirty-five or twenty-eight positions in seven separately timed groups cover the indicators of a working day on one instrument, and the incubation temperature and time are those stated by the manufacturer of the indicator.
Selection guide
- Vial diameter. About 9 mm or 10 mm: BIOIND100 with the matching block. About 12 mm with a conical end: BIOIND100S.
- Incubation temperature. The temperature stated for the indicator must lie within RT+5 °C to 100 °C.
- Incubation time. Within 1 min to 99 h 59 min; each of the seven groups is timed on its own.
- Number per day. Up to 35 positions on BIOIND100 or 28 on the BIOIND100S version of the BIOIND100 biological indicator incubator.
- Another vial size? Blocks for other sizes are available on request.
- Mains voltage. Confirm AC 220 V or AC 110 V and the plug type for the country of use.
