Pseudomonas aeruginosa · Isothermal LAMP
Pseudomonas aeruginosa LAMP Test Kit – visual result in under one hour
The Pseudomonas aeruginosa LAMP Test Kit detects Pseudomonas aeruginosa DNA by loop-mediated isothermal amplification. The reaction runs at one temperature in a simple heating block, and the result is read by colour.
- Isothermal amplification at 64 °C
- Visual read-out: green = positive
- Detection limit about 8 CFU per test
How Pseudomonas aeruginosa LAMP Test Kit works
After enrichment and lysis at 99 °C, the sample is added to the lyophilised reaction tube. Specific primers amplify the target DNA in about 50 minutes. Positive reactions show green fluorescence, negative ones remain light orange.
Typical results
| Result | Read-out |
| Positive | Fluorescent green |
| Negative | Light orange |

Applications and practical notes
Rapid molecular tests detect Pseudomonas aeruginosa in enrichment cultures of water and product samples within hours, while the culture method of ISO 16266 remains the reference. Typical applications include:
- Screening of water samples after membrane filtration
- Bottled water and beverage production
- Cosmetic and pharmaceutical products
- Laboratories with PCR or LAMP equipment
Working with Pseudomonas aeruginosa LAMP Test Kit: Open the reaction tubes only after the run in a separate area, or not at all, and run a positive and a negative control every time.
Good practice with rapid tests: store the kit as stated on the label, let the components reach room temperature before use and use each item only once. Record the lot number and the result, and confirm positive results according to the reference method when this is required.
About the Pseudomonas methods: ISO 16266 describes the detection and enumeration of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in water by membrane filtration on CN agar, where blue-green colonies that produce pyocyanin are counted as confirmed and other typical colonies are confirmed with further tests. ISO 13720 gives the count of presumptive Pseudomonas spp. in meat and meat products on CFC agar at 25 °C. Pharmacopoeial tests for P. aeruginosa use Cetrimide Agar. COLO.Science offers media, supplements, rapid tests and QC strains for these methods.
