Burkholderia gladioli qPCR Detection Kit – real-time PCR with fluorescent probe
The Burkholderia gladioli qPCR Detection Kit detects Burkholderia gladioli DNA by real-time PCR with a fluorescent probe after enrichment of the sample. The kit contains ready-to-use reaction mix, lysis solution and controls.
- Real-time PCR with fluorescent probe
- Detection limit about 100 CFU per test
- Result within hours after enrichment
How Burkholderia gladioli qPCR Detection Kit works
After enrichment, cells are lysed at 99 °C for 10 minutes and the DNA is amplified with specific primers and probe in 40 cycles. The Ct value shows whether the target is present.
Typical results
| Result | Read-out |
| Positive | Ct ≤ 35 |
| Retest | Ct 35–37 |
| Negative | Ct ≥ 37 or no Ct |

Applications and practical notes
Molecular kits detect Burkholderia gladioli and Brucella within hours, without long culture. Typical applications include:
- Fermented rice and corn products
- Edible fungi and starch products
- Milk and animal samples (Brucella)
- Laboratories with PCR or LAMP equipment
Working with Burkholderia gladioli qPCR Detection Kit: Open the reaction tubes only after the run in a separate area, or not at all, and run a positive and a negative control every time.
Good practice with rapid tests: store the kit as stated on the label, let the components reach room temperature before use and use each item only once. Record the lot number and the result, and confirm positive results according to the reference method when this is required.
About the Burkholderia and Brucella methods: the USP chapter <60> describes the test for the Burkholderia cepacia complex in non-sterile pharmaceutical products, with enrichment and plating on Burkholderia cepacia selective agar (BCSA). Burkholderia gladioli, formerly known as Pseudomonas cocovenenans, produces bongkrekic acid in fermented cereal products and is isolated on PCFA agar. Brucella is detected in animal samples and milk mainly by molecular methods, because its culture is slow and needs a high biosafety level. COLO.Science offers supplements and rapid tests for these applications.
