ALEMADR-BB bead bath — heated lid, RT+5 °C to 100 °C, tank 264 × 264 × 160 mm, 10 programs
The ALEMADR-BB bead bath is a benchtop dry bath filled with glass beads instead of water. The beads take vessels of any shape — tubes, bottles, flasks — without a block and without the contamination risk of a water bath. PID control holds the stainless steel tank from RT+5 °C to 100 °C to ≤ ±0.5 °C at 37 °C, and a heated lid with adjustable temperature limits condensation. The tank takes 25 centrifuge tubes of 50 ml or nine 250 ml culture bottles. Product code PRO7181.
Dry heat for vessels of any shape
A water bath warms anything you put into it, but the water has to be refilled and kept clean, and it wets labels and caps. A dry block is clean, but it takes only the tubes its holes were drilled for. The ALEMADR-BB bead bath combines the two: the glass beads close around any vessel like water does, and they stay dry.

Why a bead bath instead of a water bath
With the ALEMADR-BB bead bath there is no water to refill and nothing to grow in the bath; labels and caps stay dry. Tubes stand in the beads without racks or floats, and the beads are reused.
The heated lid closes the tank during the run and limits condensation inside the vessels. The stainless steel tank is easy to clean, and without beads it works as a constant temperature bath.

How a run works
Program
Set temperature and time, or recall one of the 10 programs; set a delayed start if needed. The ALEMADR-BB bead bath preheats the beads.
Load and start
Push the vessels into the beads to the level of the sample, close the heated lid and start the timer.
End of run
An alarm sounds and the bath can go on holding the temperature. Take the vessels out or leave them at constant temperature.
Build, controls and safe operation
The ALEMADR-BB bead bath measures 481 × 346 × 228 mm and weighs 10.1 kg without beads. The tank is stainless steel, 264 × 264 × 160 mm, and the hinged heated lid covers it during the run. The supply is AC 220 V, 50/60 Hz, 665 W.
The LCD shows set and actual temperature and time. Temperature calibration and over-heating protection are built in, and a run resumes automatically when the supply returns after a power failure. The beads and the lid are hot during the run — handle vessels with care.

Applications and operational value
The ALEMADR-BB bead bath is used in cell culture, molecular biology, microbiology and clinical laboratories for sample incubation, cell thawing and recovery, and warming of media and reagents.
One instrument serves tubes from micro tubes to 50 ml and bottles up to 500 ml, so no set of blocks has to be bought and stored.
