This stainless steel temperature probe measures the sample temperature from −5 to 105 °C for laboratory pH, ion and conductivity work, so the instrument can compensate the reading automatically. It comes in five versions (PRO6166 – PRO6170) that differ in the sensor type and the connector — the table below shows which version fits which instrument.
Which temperature probe fits your instrument?
Two things must match the temperature input of the instrument: the sensor type and the connector. State the order code of the version in your enquiry.
| Version | Order code | Sensor | Connector | Standard probe of |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4-pin · 2.25 kΩ | PRO6166 | 2.25 kΩ | 4-pin aviation | VIKING-PH500T |
| MiniDIN · 2.25 kΩ | PRO6170 | 2.25 kΩ | 6-pin MiniDIN | VIKING-PH600, VIKING-EC600, VIKING-M600 |
| BNC · PT-100 | PRO6167 | PT-100 | BNC (Q6) | — |
| BNC · 2.25 kΩ | PRO6169 | 2.25 kΩ | BNC (Q6) | TITRO4, TITRO5 titrators |
| BNC · PT-1000 | PRO6168 | PT-1000 | BNC (Q6) | — |
A probe with the right plug but another sensor type shows a wrong temperature. If you are not sure, send us the model of the instrument and we will name the version.
How the temperature probe is built
The sensor of the temperature probe sits in the tip of a 316 stainless steel shaft, 4 mm in diameter and 120 mm long. The thin shaft fits next to the electrode in a beaker and is easy to rinse between samples. Shaft and range are the same for all five versions.

When do you need a separate temperature probe?
pH and conductivity depend on temperature. An electrode with a built-in sensor, such as the 3-in-1 pH composite electrode, sends the temperature itself. An electrode without a sensor needs a separate probe in the same sample — otherwise the temperature has to be entered by hand.
- In use: place the temperature probe in the sample next to the electrode and wait for a stable temperature before reading.
- Care: rinse the shaft of the temperature probe with distilled water after each sample and wipe it dry before storing.
- Holder: an electrode holder keeps probe and electrode at a fixed height in the beaker.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use any temperature probe on my meter?
No. The instrument must have the matching temperature input and must be made for the sensor type of the probe — 2.25 kΩ, PT-100 or PT-1000.
Which version comes with my instrument?
PRO6166 is the standard probe of VIKING-PH500T, PRO6170 of VIKING-PH600, VIKING-EC600 and VIKING-M600, and PRO6169 of the TITRO4 and TITRO5 titrators.
Where can I see the other electrodes and probes?
The electrode catalogue lists pH, ion selective, conductivity and reference electrodes with their connectors; the instruments are in the electrochemistry catalogue.
