CS6080 Benchtop Spectrophotometer — reflectance d/8 and transmittance d/0
The CS6080 benchtop spectrophotometer (COLO product code PRO7904) measures reflectance and transmittance colour of plastics, coatings, films, liquids and powders in one instrument. A pulsed xenon lamp with 400, 420 and 460 nm UV cut-off, a 154 mm integrating sphere and simultaneous SCI/SCE give repeatable CIE Lab and ΔE values for colour formulation and colour quality control.

The CS6080 is the instrument to choose when results must agree closely with other laboratories and when UV content matters: the xenon source with three UV cut-off filters handles fluorescent and optically brightened samples, and inter-instrument agreement is within ΔE*ab 0.12 on twelve BCRA Series II tiles.

Key characteristics
- Reflectance d/8 and transmittance d/0, SCI and SCE measured simultaneously
- Pulsed xenon lamp 360–780 nm with 400, 420 and 460 nm UV cut-off
- Repeatability ΔE*ab ≤ 0.012 (reflectance) and ≤ 0.015 (transmittance)
- Inter-instrument agreement ΔE*ab ≤ 0.12
- Reflectance apertures Ø30/25.4, 18/15, 10/8 and 6/4 mm, recognised automatically
- Haze per ASTM D1003, built-in camera, USB and Bluetooth
Suitable for
- Opaque and translucent plastic plaques, masterbatch and compounds
- Paints, coatings, inks and pigments; textiles and paper
- Films, sheets and glass in transmittance; liquids in cuvettes
- Colour quality control with CIE Lab (D65/10°) and ΔE pass/fail
Why this instrument
Two things decide the price of a colour mistake: a batch that is released and later rejected, and a dispute about whose numbers are right. The CS6080 addresses both — repeatability of ΔE*ab 0.012 keeps a pass/fail decision stable, and tight inter-instrument agreement means values measured here can be compared with values measured on another instrument of the same class.

Software and data

The PC software stores standards with their tolerances, shows the spectrum, the colour plot and the colour difference, and exports results for reports and archiving. Quality-control and sample modes are also available directly on the 7″ touch screen.
Reflectance and transmittance results are kept in the same database, so one standard can be checked in both modes.

Selection guide
- Close agreement with other laboratories, fluorescent samples: CS6080 — three UV cut-off filters and ΔE*ab ≤ 0.12 between instruments.
- Second instrument for daily checks, budget first: CS6020 — same xenon principle and geometries at a lower price.
- Transmittance or haze: both models; with the CS6020 order the transmittance test component.
- Large or curved parts at the production line: a portable spectrophotometer is the better tool — ask us for the right model.
