COLO.SCIENCE – ULTRASONIC HOMOGENIZERS

USP-400 Series: Handheld Ultrasonic Homogenizer – 250W or 400W, 0.1–300 mL, Touch Control (PRO5691 / PRO5692)

The USP-400 series handheld ultrasonic homogenizer uses ultrasonic cavitation for cell disruption, emulsification, dispersion, homogenization, extraction, defoaming, cleaning and nano-material preparation.

The series is available in two configurations: PRO5691 (2.5–250 W, 0.1–150 mL) and PRO5692 (4–400 W, 0.1–300 mL), each supplied with a Φ5 mm standard horn. Both models feature a true‑color capacitive touch display, automatic frequency tracking and real‑time sample temperature detection.

Why users switch to USP-400

  • 🟦
Firstly, true handheld: 1.2 kg – move between laminar flow, fume hood, cold room.
  • 🟦
No-load protection: Automatic shutdown if probe is in air. Saves tips and samples.
  • 🟦
20 protocol memory: Switch from E. coli lysis to nanoparticle mixing instantly.
  • 🟦
Temperature monitoring: Real-time °C shown on screen; optional cooling cell.
  • 🟦
Duty cycle 0.1–99.9%: Gentle on antibodies and temperature‑sensitive enzymes.

Validated applications

  • 🧬
In addition, cell biology: Mammalian, bacterial, yeast lysis – 30 s to 3 min.
  • ⚛️
Material science: Graphene, CNT, metal oxide dispersion (0.1–2% wt).
  • 💧
Formulation: Nanoemulsions, liposomes, cannabis oil emulsification.
  • 🍎
Food & cosmetic: Particle size reduction, stability testing.
  • 🌍
Environmental: Soil extraction, algae cell wall breaking.

Optimized ultrasonic settings for any sample type

PRACTICAL WORKFLOW – POWER & PULSE SETTINGS

How to get reproducible results (step‑by‑step)

1️⃣ Probe selection: Φ2 mm (0.1–5 mL), Φ3 mm (2–15 mL), Φ5 mm (10–150 mL), Φ6 mm (20–300 mL).
2️⃣ Amplitude check: Start at 30% duty cycle for delicate cells; 70–90% for hard tissues.
3️⃣ Pulse mode: Set ultrasound 3 s → gap 2 s → avoids thermal stress.
4️⃣ Depth control: Immerse probe 10–15 mm; never touch vessel bottom.
5️⃣ Memory save: Store successful runs (20 groups) – recall instantly.

Frequently asked questions – USP-400 homogenizer

❓ What is the difference between PRO5691 and PRO5692?

PRO5691 is 250W max, processes 0.1–150 mL – entry level, lower cost. PRO5692 is 400W, reaches 300 mL, suited for tougher samples (plant tissue, high % solids). Both have identical UI and probe fitting.

❓ Can I use USP-400 for DNA shearing?

Yes. Use PRO5691 with Φ2 mm or Φ3 mm probe, set duty cycle ≤40%, pulse 2s on/2s off. The TFT screen lets you store the shearing protocol.

❓ Which accessories are included in the box?

Each USP-400 ships with: Φ5 mm titanium probe, foot switch, temperature sensor, power cord, quick start card. Probes are autoclavable.

❓ Is there a cooling jacket or flow cell?

Optional low‑temperature kit (cooling circulator + double wall vessel) available – contact sales. The temperature display works with any external probe.
