How Shigella Enrichment Broth Supplement works
The supplement suppresses Gram-positive bacteria and part of the Gram-negative accompanying flora during enrichment, so that Shigella, which is usually present in low numbers, can grow before plating on selective agars.
Applications and practical notes
Shigella causes bacillary dysentery and is tested in food, water and clinical samples, for example according to ISO 21567. Typical applications include:
