Vibrio parahaemolyticus LAMP Test Kit – visual result in under one hour
The Vibrio parahaemolyticus LAMP Test Kit detects Vibrio parahaemolyticus DNA by loop-mediated isothermal amplification. The reaction runs at one temperature in a simple heating block, and the result is read by colour.
- Isothermal amplification at 64 °C
- Visual read-out: green = positive
- Detection limit about 4 CFU per test
How Vibrio parahaemolyticus LAMP Test Kit works
After enrichment and lysis at 99 °C, the sample is added to the lyophilised reaction tube. Specific primers amplify the target DNA in about 50 minutes. Positive reactions show green fluorescence, negative ones remain light orange.
Typical results
| Result | Read-out |
| Positive | Fluorescent green |
| Negative | Light orange |

Applications and practical notes
Rapid tests shorten the detection of Vibrio after enrichment, while positive results are confirmed by the culture method of ISO 21872-1. Typical applications include:
- Screening of seafood batches
- Aquaculture monitoring
- Laboratories that need results within a working day
- Confirmation of suspect colonies
Working with Vibrio parahaemolyticus LAMP Test Kit: Open the reaction tubes only after the run in a separate area, or not at all, and run a positive and a negative control every time.
Good practice with rapid tests: store the kit as stated on the label, let the components reach room temperature before use and use each item only once. Record the lot number and the result, and confirm positive results according to the reference method when this is required.
About the Vibrio method: ISO 21872-1 describes the detection of potentially enteropathogenic Vibrio parahaemolyticus, V. cholerae and V. vulnificus in seafood and other foods. Samples are enriched twice in Alkaline Saline Peptone Water, plated on TCBS Agar and a second selective medium, and typical colonies are purified on saline agar and confirmed biochemically or by PCR. The FDA BAM Chapter 9 follows a similar scheme. COLO.Science offers media, supplements, rapid tests, identification kits and QC strains for every step.
