Salmonella Enteritidis QC Strain – lyophilised reference strain for quality control
Lyophilised (freeze-dried) Salmonella Enteritidis strain CMCC(B) 50335 for qualitative quality control in food, water and pharmaceutical microbiology. It is used as a positive control and for testing the performance of culture media and rapid tests for Salmonella.

How the Salmonella Enteritidis QC Strain is used
The vial is rehydrated with the supplied recovery fluid and mixed. The suspension is then spread on a non-selective agar or inoculated into broth to obtain a fresh working culture, which is used to inoculate the media or tests that are being checked.

Applications and practical notes
The Salmonella Enteritidis QC Strain is used wherever a defined Salmonella strain is needed as a control, for example in media testing according to ISO 6579-1 and ISO 11133. Typical applications include:
- growth promotion testing of new media lots

- verification of rapid tests and identification kits
