Salmonella LAMP Test Kit – isothermal detection of Salmonella in about one hour
The Salmonella LAMP Test Kit detects Salmonella DNA by loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) after enrichment. The reaction runs at one constant temperature in a heat block or PCR instrument, and the result is read by colour change, without an expensive real-time PCR system.
- Result in about 1 hour after DNA extraction
- Visual colour read-out, no real-time PCR needed
- 24 tests per box · COLO code PRO7409
How the Salmonella LAMP Test Kit works
After enrichment, crude DNA is released by heating the culture. The lyophilised reaction tube contains primers specific for Salmonella and the enzyme for isothermal amplification. At 63 °C the target DNA is amplified within about 50 minutes, and the indicator turns fluorescent green in positive samples.
Reading the result
| Result | Reading |
| Positive | fluorescent green |
| Negative | light orange |
Read in daylight against a white background. The test detects DNA and cannot distinguish between live and dead cells; positive results are confirmed by the culture method.

Applications and practical notes
The Salmonella LAMP Test Kit is used for rapid screening of enriched food and feed samples where results are needed on the same day. Typical applications include:
- food and feed producers with in-house laboratories
- screening of raw materials before release
- environmental samples from production areas
- laboratories without a real-time PCR system
Working with Salmonella LAMP Test Kit: Work in separate areas for sample preparation and amplification and close the tubes before incubation to avoid carry-over contamination. Run the positive and negative controls with each series.
Good practice with rapid tests: store the kit as stated on the label, let the components reach room temperature before use and use each item only once. Record the lot number and the result, and confirm positive results according to the reference method when this is required.
About the Salmonella culture method: the reference method for Salmonella in the food chain, ISO 6579-1, has four steps: non-selective pre-enrichment, selective enrichment in two broths, plating on two selective agars and confirmation of typical colonies. The FDA BAM Chapter 5 follows the same principle with media adapted to different food types. Rapid tests and identification kits shorten the time to result, but positive screening results are usually confirmed by the culture method. COLO.Science offers products for every step, so that one supplier covers the whole procedure.
