COLO.SCIENCE — LEGEND SERIES

LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer series, 190–1100 nm, six single- and double-beam models with 10.1″ touch screen

The LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer series combines an ARM processing core with a 10.1″ colour capacitive touch screen for qualitative and quantitative UV/Vis analysis in routine and research laboratories. Six models cover single-beam (LEGEND-100, LEGEND-150, LEGEND-150S) and double-beam (LEGEND-200, LEGEND-250, LEGEND-250S) optics with a 1200 lines/mm grating, deuterium and tungsten-halogen lamps, automatic wavelength setting, scanning up to 4000 nm/min and USB / RS232 / SD card data output.

LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer with 10.1 inch touch screen

LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer measurement across six beam and bandwidth configurations

Every LEGEND model reads absorbance, transmittance, concentration and energy directly on its 10.1″ touch screen and offers photometric, quantitative, spectral scanning, kinetics and DNA/protein modes on the instrument, without a PC. Wavelength accuracy of ±0.3 nm over the entire 190–1100 nm range (±0.1 nm at 656.1 nm), stray light ≤0.02 %T at 220 nm and noise of 0.00005 Abs at 700 nm place the series in the mid-to-upper performance class of laboratory UV/Vis spectrophotometers on COLO.Science.

All six models share the same touch-screen platform, photometric accuracy, data interfaces and standard accessories. They differ in beam configuration, spectral bandwidth, long-term stability and baseline flatness — see the model comparison below.

SELECTION NOTE — LEGEND UV/VIS SCANNING SPECTROPHOTOMETER

LEGEND-100 (single beam) and LEGEND-200 (double beam) are the 2 nm bandwidth base configurations. LEGEND-150 and LEGEND-250 narrow the bandwidth to 1 nm for pharmacopoeia-type methods. LEGEND-150S and LEGEND-250S add selectable 0.5 / 1 / 2 / 4 / 5 nm bandwidth in a larger housing. Double-beam models offer tighter long-term stability (≤±0.0003 A/h) than single-beam models (≤±0.0005 A/h).

Why choose a LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer for routine and research work

The LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer series is built around one touch-screen platform shared by all six models, so a laboratory can standardise training, cuvettes, accessories and data workflow while selecting the beam configuration and bandwidth that fit each method. LEGEND-100 and LEGEND-200 use a 2 nm bandwidth, LEGEND-150 and LEGEND-250 a 1 nm bandwidth, and LEGEND-150S and LEGEND-250S a selectable 0.5–5 nm bandwidth for higher-resolution methods and method development.

Every model measures in %T, Abs, C and E, performs full-band, sub-band and time (kinetic) scanning with peak/valley detection and spectrum arithmetic, and exports results over USB, RS232 or SD card. Each instrument is delivered with the same standard accessory set — the 4-position 10 mm cuvette holder with 2× quartz and 4× glass cuvettes of 1 cm optical path — and can be extended with the professional LEGEND PC software with USB dongle, an automatic 8-cell changer, a built-in thermal printer, Wi-Fi UV lamp control, Peltier or sipper systems, an integrating sphere or a reflectance accessory. This shared platform is what makes the LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer practical for QC, clinical, environmental and research laboratories that need one instrument family instead of six unrelated spectrophotometers.

How to select the appropriate LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer model

Choosing the right LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer model starts from the spectral bandwidth the method calls for. Methods that specify 2 nm are covered by LEGEND-100 or LEGEND-200; pharmacopoeia-type methods that require 1 nm point to LEGEND-150 or LEGEND-250; laboratories running several methods with different resolution requirements, or developing methods, benefit from the selectable 0.5 / 1 / 2 / 4 / 5 nm bandwidth of LEGEND-150S and LEGEND-250S.

The second decision is the beam configuration. Single-beam models (LEGEND-100 / 150 / 150S) are the economical choice for routine work; double-beam models (LEGEND-200 / 250 / 250S) compensate lamp drift continuously and offer tighter long-term stability (≤±0.0003 A/h) for long kinetic runs and low-absorbance work. Note that the “S” models come in a larger housing (760×560×280 mm). All six models accept the same standard and optional accessories, so the accessory decision — software, printer, automatic cell changer, long-path cuvettes, calibration — can be made independently of the model choice.

Configuration notice: every LEGEND UV/Vis scanning spectrophotometer can be configured according to the application and accessories (software, printer, holders, etc.). The official PDF technical specification defines the exact delivered configuration, included components and available options. The manufacturer reserves the right to change technical specifications. Final configuration and included items are defined by the official PDF and quotation.
