Enterococcus faecalis LAMP Test Kit – visual result in under one hour

The Enterococcus faecalis LAMP Test Kit detects Enterococcus faecalis DNA by loop-mediated isothermal amplification. The reaction runs at one temperature in a simple heating block, and the result is read by colour.

  • Isothermal amplification at 64 °C
  • Visual read-out: green = positive
  • Detection limit about 9 CFU per test

How Enterococcus faecalis LAMP Test Kit works

After enrichment and lysis at 99 °C, the sample is added to the lyophilised reaction tube. Specific primers amplify the target DNA in about 50 minutes. Positive reactions show green fluorescence, negative ones remain light orange.

Typical results

Result Read-out
Positive Fluorescent green
Negative Light orange

Technical data

Preparation Lyophilised reagents; 20 µL reconstitution solution per reaction tube; sample lysis 99 °C, 10 min

Storage 2–8 °C
Shelf life 12 months

Applications and practical notes

Rapid tests and latex kits shorten the identification of enterococci and streptococci after culture or enrichment. Typical applications include:

  • Confirmation of typical colonies
  • Screening of water samples after enrichment
  • Clinical and veterinary laboratories
  • Laboratories with PCR or LAMP equipment

Working with Enterococcus faecalis LAMP Test Kit: Open the reaction tubes only after the run in a separate area, or not at all, and run a positive and a negative control every time.

Good practice with rapid tests: store the kit as stated on the label, let the components reach room temperature before use and use each item only once. Record the lot number and the result, and confirm positive results according to the reference method when this is required.

About the Enterococcus methods: intestinal enterococci are indicators of faecal contamination of water. ISO 7899-2 counts them by membrane filtration on Slanetz and Bartley Agar, where typical colonies are red, maroon or pink, and confirms them by transferring the membrane to Bile Esculin Azide Agar, where esculin hydrolysis turns the medium black. In food, enterococci are counted on bile esculin azide media. Streptococci are cultivated on blood agar, where the type of haemolysis is read, and grouped by Lancefield antigens. COLO.Science offers media, supplements, rapid tests and identification kits for these methods.
