Listeria monocytogenes LAMP Test Kit – isothermal detection in about one hour
The Listeria monocytogenes LAMP Test Kit detects L. monocytogenes DNA by loop-mediated isothermal amplification after enrichment. The reaction runs at one temperature in a heat block or PCR instrument and is read by colour change.
- Detection limit 8 CFU per test
- Visual colour read-out, no real-time PCR needed
- 24 tests per box · COLO code PRO7411
How the Listeria monocytogenes LAMP Test Kit works
After enrichment, DNA is released by heating the culture. The lyophilised reaction tubes contain primers specific for L. monocytogenes; at about 63 °C the target is amplified within 50 minutes and positive samples turn fluorescent green.
Reading the result
| Result | Reading |
| Positive | fluorescent green |
| Negative | light orange |
The test detects DNA and cannot distinguish live and dead cells; positive results are confirmed by the culture method.

Applications and practical notes
The kit is used for rapid screening of enriched samples for L. monocytogenes; positive results are confirmed according to ISO 11290-1. Typical applications include:
- ready-to-eat food producers
- dairy and cheese producers
- fish and meat processing
- environmental monitoring programmes
Working with Listeria monocytogenes LAMP Test Kit: Work in separate areas for sample preparation and amplification, close the tubes before incubation and run the positive and negative controls with each series.
Good practice with rapid tests: store the kit as stated on the label, let the components reach room temperature before use and use each item only once. Record the lot number and the result, and confirm positive results according to the reference method when this is required.
About the Salmonella culture method: the reference method for Salmonella in the food chain, ISO 6579-1, has four steps: non-selective pre-enrichment, selective enrichment in two broths, plating on two selective agars and confirmation of typical colonies. The FDA BAM Chapter 5 follows the same principle with media adapted to different food types. Rapid tests and identification kits shorten the time to result, but positive screening results are usually confirmed by the culture method. COLO.Science offers products for every step, so that one supplier covers the whole procedure.
