Why INVE550T is a practical inverted microscope for cell culture, Petri dishes and plates
INVE550T is an inverted biological microscope built for everyday life-science work where samples are inside culture vessels. The inverted geometry supports comfortable handling and reduces the risk of disturbing living cells during observation, while Koehler illumination helps maintain consistent contrast across the field of view.
Typical use cases include routine inspection of adherent cells, documentation for QC and training, and phase-contrast workflows (depending on objectives and slider configuration per PDF). The trinocular head supports camera adapters and digital imaging set-ups.
Key features (short)
- Infinity-corrected plan achromatic optical system (F=200 mm), anti-fungus and anti-reflection treated (typ.).
- Trinocular Siedentopf viewing head; 45° inclined; diopter adjustment; IPD settings (per PDF).
- Revolving reversed quintuple nosepiece (5 objectives) for fast objective changes.
- ELWD condenser NA 0.30 with iris diaphragm; long working distance 72 mm (per PDF).
- Illumination options: 3 W adjustable LED or 6V/30W halogen* (configuration dependent).
Where it fits best
- Cell culture observation in Petri dishes, multi-well plates and culture flasks.
- Clinical and routine biology labs: sample screening and documentation.
- Phase-contrast observation for low-contrast living cells (per configured objectives/slider).
- Teaching and training: stable, repeatable illumination for demonstrations.
PRACTICAL USE & CHECKLISTS
Daily setup checklist (fast)
Start with the lowest objective and low illumination. Set interpupillary distance (IPD) and diopters, then optimize Koehler illumination (field diaphragm and aperture diaphragm) for uniform brightness and contrast. Use bright field for general screening and switch to phase contrast only when configured with matching objectives and phase slider.
For repeatable QC imaging, standardize illumination intensity, condenser height and exposure settings, and record objective + contrast mode per sample batch.
COLO.Science & equipment
COLO.Science supports selection and configuration of inverted microscopy for your workflow: phase-contrast packages, camera adapters, C-mount options and stage holders for common cultureware.
If you need routine documentation, we propose a camera-ready configuration (trinocular head + adapter + calibrated scale workflow) aligned with your QC requirements.
